I am trying to connect to a mysql DB. For security reasons, the DB Admin
would like to restrict access to the DB:
- if possible, connect only via socket (no TCP/IP port open at all)
- if this is not possible, restrict access to localhost:3306

Now I have two questions and hope someone can answer them:

1.) is it possible to connect to a mysql DB via Remote Loader and jdbc
driver? If so, how (the default connection sxntax for a mysql db is:
jdbc:mysql://serverip:3306/db
can i substitute serverip with localhost and the port with the information
to use socket?

2.) can I state localhost as ipaddress for the server (since the db
connection is initiated from the remote loader to the db. Both being on the
same server, I assumed, this would work, but I get the following error:

Message: <description>Unable to connect. Authentication
failed.</description>
<jdbc:exception jdbc:class="java.sql.SQLException" jdbc:error-code="1045"
jdbc:sql-state="28000" xmlns:jdbc="urn:dirxml:jdbc" xmlns:jdbc
-1="urn:dirxml:jdbc" xmlns:jdbc-2="urn:dirxml:jdbc"
xmlns:jdbc-3="urn:dirxml:jdbc">
<jdbc:message>Access denied for user 'dbuser'@'localhost' (using
password: YES)</jdbc:message>
</jdbc:exception>

Any help will be appreciated.
