Basically the idea is that an LDAP client connects with a search filter
and uses an LDAP extension/control (I forget which) to tell the directory
to keep waiting for things matching those events, and then return them
immediately when found. The search is persistent, vs. happening one-time
and then returning results (if applicable) and disconnecting once current
results are concerned.
