Probably you can't - at least not straightforward and without heavy
fiddling with jQuery.

The onchange() event is triggered if the resulting DN changed. It won't
differentiate between 'no results' found, or results found but the user
having pressed "cancel" or not having called the DNLookup at all.

IMHO I can't imagine a use case where such information would be relevant
for the forms I have designed.
