The environment consist of one edir tree (8.6.2) called OLD with NAM 3.0,
another edir tree (8.7.3.7) called NEW with IDM 2.01 and Fan-Out driver.
Platforms are connected to the OLD tree as well as to the NEW tree. In the
OLD tree, of course, users and groups are provisioned to the platforms with
a GUID/UID-set associated to each platform set. And in the NEW tree users
and groups are provisioned with another GUID/UID-set associated to each
platform set.Users and groups are synchronized between the trees with
edirectory drivers.

Now we are in the process of migrating the platforms from the OLD to the NEW
tree. And here's my question: Could we in any way move a platform to the NEW
tree and preserve the same GUID/UID associated with a user or group in the
OLD tree?

The problem as I see it is that when a user is synced to an old platform and
the platform is moved to the new environment there will be a conflict with
the "new" user in the NEW tree and the "old" user on the platform because
the GUID/UID:s don't match.
